Alberta D. Roberge, 97, died peacefully at Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin, NH on October 8, 2016 where she had been a resident for the past several years.
Alberta was born on October 11, 1918 in Disraeli, Quebec Canada to the late Joseph and Cesarie (Turgeon) Roberge. She was the youngest of five children. Alberta entered religious life in her late teens and became a member of Les Petites Soeurs de la Sainte Famille (The Little Sisters of the Holy Family) where she remained for eight years until she left the community due to ill health. She continued to work in religious institutions
in Canada and eventually moved to Berlin where her parents had relocated. Alberta became a housekeeper at Guardian Angel Parish during the time of Msgr. Omer Bousquet. After his death in 1958, she returned to Canada to work until Rev. Robert Simard invited her to work at Guardian Angel as housekeeper, cook and receptionist. She would follow him to St. Francis Parish in Groveton where she served in the same capacity until his passing in 1980 at which time she retired and returned to Berlin.
Alberta dedicated her life to serving God and the Church. She was a member of the Third Order Franciscans. During her lifetime, she was very prayerful and devoted to her catholic faith. She enjoyed crocheting and crafting all kinds of Christmas centerpieces. She always made sure that family members had one of her hand made creations for Christmas.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Yvette Roberge, her brothers: Alphonse Roberge, Omer and his wife Juliette (Gagnon) Roberge, Emile and his wife Olivette(Fournier) Roberge, her niece, Rita (Roberge) Arsenault, and nephews Paul Roberge and Denis Roberge
Alberta is survived by several nieces and nephews: Normand (late Rita) Arsenault of Berlin, Sr. Cecile Roberge,pm of Hudson, NH, Sr. Jeanne Roberge,pm of Biddeford Pool, ME., Pauline, McGee of Berlin, Lillian (Roland) Rivard of Berlin Louise (Maurice) Roy of Gorham, Leo (Sue) Roberge of Berlin, Lucille (Raymond) King of Gorham, Donald (Freda) Roberge of Berlin, Gertraud ( Paul ) Roberge of Berwick, ME, Norman(Claire) Roberge of Dunbarton, Muriel (Lucien) Blais of Berlin,
Rev. Richard Roberge of Concord, and Emilie (Rev Dean) Stiles of Berlin.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct 12th at 11:00 am at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish; 345 Pleasant St., Berlin, NH. Interment will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery, Berlin,
Visiting hours will be at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High St. Berlin, NH prior to the funeral beginning at 9:30 am
