Mr. Alfred T. Lindsay, 83, of 745 Milan Road, Milan, NH passed away on Saturday morning, March 28, 2009 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Berlin. He was born in Gorham, NH on May 14, 1925 and has resided in Milan since 1949. He was a US Army veteran of WW2, having served in the European Theatre and was an active member of the PVO 66th Panther Division. Alfred was a member of the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW, the Androscoggin Lodge #76 I.O.O.F. and the Emily Flint Rebekah Lodge #62, a member of the Androscoggin Grange, an Endowment member of and a Second Amendment member of the N.R.A. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by James River Corporation as an Electrician. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed hunting, traveling to the Islands and Aruba and his winters spent in Florida. Alfred was a member of the Milan Community United Methodist Church and attended the Zolfo Springs United Methodist Church in Zolfo Springs, Florida. He was a Forest Fire Deputy Warden in the Town of Milan for many years and a member of the Coos County Forest Fire Wardens Association. Members of the family include his wife of nearly 60 years Muriel (Witham) Lindsay of Milan; a son Harley Lindsay and his wife Louise of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter Paula LaBrecque and her husband Ray of Dummer, NH; five grandchildren Caryn, Bethany, Kari, Matthew and Christopher; five great grandchildren Ethan, Daniel, Alexa, Hudson and Julia and expecting two great grandchildren this summer; one sister Arlene Taber of Westerly, RI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as seven siblings and two daughters Wanda and Sydney. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon March 31, 2009 at 2 PM at the Milan Community United Methodist Church in Milan, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH on Monday evening from 6 to 9 PM and on Tuesday from 10 AM to 12 PM. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in his memory to C.H.A.D. C/O the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH or to a charity of ones choice in his memory.
