Mr. Anthony J. Migetz, 93, of Berlin, NH, passed away on Wednesday July 28, 2010 at the Coos County Nursing Home. He was born in Berlin, NH on March 7, 1917. Other than living in New York City for a short time as a youth, he was a lifetime resident of Berlin. He was the devoted husband of the late Bernice C. (Lavernoich) Migetz for 68 years. Tony was the son of Anton Migetz and Olga (Kluchnick) Migetz Sazonick . He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his brothers Willie Migetz and Alexander Migetz, a sister Mary (Migetz) Theberge and his infant daughter, Nancy. Tony graduated from Berlin High School and as a young man held positions of responsibility in trucking and construction industries. He was later employed by the City of Berlin Police Department, rising to the rank of Sergeant. Tony was a past president of the New Hampshire Police Association and served in multiple positions in organized labor. He was a long time appointment to the New Hampshire Appeals Tribunal. Tony and Bernice were patrons of several Berlin churches. Tony and Bernice traveled extensively during their marriage, including trips to the Orient, South Pacific, former Eastern Bloc countries and throughout the United States. For much of his life, Tony was an avid fisherman and hunter. He gained considerable renown as a marksman and served as a firearms instructor into his eighties. He survived cancer, living in remission for well more than a decade prior to his passing. He is survived by several nieces and nephews; half brothers and half sisters. SERVICES: Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin on Monday evening August 2, 2010 from 7 to 9 PM. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday August 3 at 12:00 Noon at the St. Kieran Cemetery in Berlin. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to Berlin area charities in the name of Anthony and Bernice Migetz.
