Beatrice "Bea" L. Wheeler, 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 11, 2025, at the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin, NH. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice Wheeler, with whom she shared many cherished years.
Born and raised in Gorham, NH, Bea was the youngest of nine children. She spent the majority of her adult life in Berlin, where she built a home filled with love, faith, and community. In recent years, she resided at The Morrison Summit assisted living facility in Whitefield, NH, where she was surrounded by a circle of friends.
A devout member of the Catholic Church, Bea was deeply involved with Good Shepherd Parish and was a dedicated member of the Marie Rivier Associates (MRA). She found joy in attending Mass and volunteering her time. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she generously shared her kindness and compassion with all who knew her.
Bea was an active member of the community, giving her time as an adult educator, elder companion, and Den Mother for the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She was involved with the St. Kieran’s Art Center and worked as a Title I educator in the Berlin School System for many years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, regularly attending sporting events and dance recitals for her children and grandchildren. As a young mother, she created cherished family memories during vacations at her family’s camp on Songo Pond in Maine. She also had a lifelong love of crossword puzzles and rarely let a day pass without completing one.
She is survived by her four children: Jay Wheeler and his wife Peg of Berwick, ME; Jill Wheeler-Leggett and her husband Bill of Jacksonville, FL; Jim Wheeler and his wife Karen of Milan, NH; and Jess Wheeler and his wife Jen of Dayton, ME. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Ferrante of Gorham, NH and many nieces and nephews. Bea was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Bea will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her warm spirit, and the love she poured into her family and community.
