Bernice (Lavernoich) Migetz, 88, passed away at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital on Saturday December 19th. She was born on August 11, 1921 in Berlin, NH. She was a lifetime resident of Berlin, residing her entire adult life in the same neighborhood that she grew up in.Bernice graduated from Berlin High School in 1939 and was later employed by Granite State-Converse for 35 years, holding several positions of responsibility. Over time, she was a patron of several Berlin churches. Bernice and Tony traveled extensively during their marriage, including trips to the Orient, South Pacific, and throughout the United States. Additionally, their multiple trips to Poland and the former Soviet Union helped the Lavernoich family to become re-acquainted with relatives in the old country. Bernice possessed a sharp wit and fierce will to live for her husband, rarely complaining despite a lifetime of potentially debilitating illnesses. Bernice was the 6th of 13 children of Joseph and Julia (Romiel) Lavernoich. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Anthony (Tony) J. Migetz, and two sisters Irene Redfern of Berlin and Della Hanson of Nashua, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Felicia McIntyre, Mildred Sheridan, and Mary Dupont, her brothers Adam, Ben, Joseph, Edward, Alphonse, Valerian, and Lawrence, and her infant daughter Nancy. SERVICES: Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday May 26, 2010 at 11 AM at St Kieran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to Berlin area charities in the name of Anthony and Bernice Migetz.
