Mr. Donald C. Duquette, 90, of Berlin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, March 18, 2024 at his home. He was born in St. Cecile des Bois, QC, Canada on September 14, 1933 the son of the late Henri and Alphonsine (Lacroix) Duquette. He came to the United States in 1958 to work as a wood cutter and not long after started at the Brown Company. For many years he worked shifts at the mill while simultaneously cutting wood to support his family. After retiring, he mowed the City cemeteries during summer months for more than a decade. For many years he also assisted on countless funerals as a pall bearer. Donald enjoyed playing cribbage in various leagues, watching his grandsons play hockey, baseball, track and field and soccer and was a very talented gardner. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a long time communicant of L'Ange Guardian Parish. With his wife Lucille they traveled to Međugorje, Rome and Jerusalem on pilgrimages.
Members of the family include two sons, Steve H. Duquette and his wife Jennifer of Manchester and Keith F. Duquette and his wife Angela of Berlin; a daughter Suzie Holland and her husband Richard of The Villages, Florida; three grandchildren, Kimberly Duquette of Manchester, NH and Brody and Daven Duquette both of Berlin; his sisters Dorothy Boulanger of St. George, QC, Sr. Raymonde Duquette of Quebec City, QC, Pauline Audet and Carmen Julienne both of Lac Megantic, QC; a brother Florian Duquette of Meridan, CT; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Lucille (Tremblay) Duquette, a son Carl Duquette and his siblings Fernand, Real, Zoel and Normand.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 1pm at the Bryant & Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin with interment following in the Russian City Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 11am to 1pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
