Doris E (Small) Michaud

Doris Elizabeth (Small) Michaud, a lifetime resident of Gorham, NH, passed away quietly on Saturday, April 6, 2019 in Ossipee, NH where she had resided for three months at Mountain View Community. She was 93 years young.



Born in Berlin, NH to Linwood and Anna (Mercier) Small. She attended local schools graduating in 1943 from Gorham High School. On May 20, 1945, she married her next door neighbor and best friend of her brother, Gerard Leo Michaud. Together they raised five loving children who were their primary focus.



Doris was a communicant of Holy Family Parish and had been a member of St. Benedicts Womens Club. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed knitting, puzzles, reading, and challenging any and all to a game of Rummikub. Later in life, she and Gerard traveled extensively to Hawaii, Nevada, California, Georgia, Maine, and the Carolinas visiting family and friends. With a sense of wanderlust, upon Gerards retirement, they also explored numerous campgrounds within the New England area where they were often joined by their children and grandchildren.



She was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Gerard, her three brothers Arnold, Robert and Norman Small and sisters, Nellie Ostrowski and Ina Walker.



She leaves behind her son, Gerard Michaud, Jr. of San Diego, CA; daughters Judith Riff of Thomaston, ME, Susan Whiting and her husband Jonathan of Wolfeboro, NH, Paula Morrill of Wolfeboro, NH and Mary Morgan and her husband Ray of Savannah, GA. Doris leaves behind six grandchildren: Daniel Riff Brien Riff, Desiree Peluso, Christian Morgan, Maggie Morrill and Savannah Whiting, and great grandchildren Mathis, Eliza, Asher, McKai, Aiden, Noah, Teigan Riff, and Marilyn and Jackson Peluso.



Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH 03570.



A Mass of Christian burial will follow at Holy Family Church in Gorham at 1 pm. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery.
