Mrs. Doris Legere, beloved wife of Alfred Legere, devoted mother and grandmother, died on November 21, 2007 after a brief illness in Berlin, New Hampshire. Born Doris Gagne in Berlin, NH on August 8, 1932, she was the second of six children of Louis Gagne and Maria (Bernier) Gagne. Her father was employed by the Brown Company Woodland Division; Doris attended elementary and high school in Berlin, graduating from Notre Dame High School in 1950. After graduation, she worked briefly at Brown Company, before marrying her high school sweetheart and husband of 53 years, Alfred H. Legere, a native of Berlin and a career U.S. Marine Corps Officer. Throughout her life, in addition to raising four wonderful children, caring for her grandchildren, family and friends, organizing countless moves across the country and providing invaluable support to her husbands 24 year military career in the United States Marines and civic career in Berlin, Doris was a loving and caring person with a warm heart, a gentle sense of humor, a profound and active faith, a love of conversation, and life long dedication to her family and friends. A tireless volunteer and valued member of her neighborhood, community and church, Doris will be deeply missed by all those who had the great fortune to know her. Doris is survived by her husband, Alfred Legere, their four children: Normand Legere of Northwood, NH, Richard Legere of Camarillo, CA, Paul Legere, Colonel U.S. Army who is currently stationed at the U.S. Naval War College of Newport, RI, and Diane Legere of Oxnard, CA as well as seven grandchildren: Justin, Leanna, Olesya and Katie of Camarillo, CA, Nathan and Jennie of Northwood, NH, Zachary of Oxnard, CA. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers: Jeannette Gagnon of Gorham, NH, Lucile LaPlante of Berlin, NH, Marcel Gagne of Berlin, NH and Paul Gagne of Nashua, NH. She was predeceased by her parents Louis and Maria Gagne and her brother Robert Gagne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish on Saturday November 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH on Monday November 26, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Donations may be sent in Doriss name to the St. Vincent de Paul Activity Fund, 29 Providence Avenue, Berlin, NH, 03570 or to a charity of your choice.
