Florence Poirier

Florence Poirier, 91, of 421 Main Street, Berlin died Sunday evening, March 3 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. She was born in Berlin on Aug. 10, 1921 the daughter of Thomas Salvas and Exilda (Cote) Salvas. She was a lifelong Berlin resident. Before her retirement, she was employed at the St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home for over twenty years. In her earlier years she enjoyed spending time at her son Rons camp on Lake Umbagog. She liked to crochet and made many beautiful afghans for her family. She was also a terrific cook. Florence was predeceased by her parents, her husband Hector, a daughter Yvette Rowe and many siblings. She leaves two sons, Richard and wife Charlotte of Frederick, MD, Ronald and wife Jane of Berlin a daughter, Sue Dion of Berlin; five grandchildren, Nicole Hosie and husband Buddy of Rumford, ME, John Rowe of Ossipee, NH, Karen Ouellette and husband Carl of Cambridge, NH, Richard Poirier of Visalia, CA, and Stacy Dion of San Diego, CA; two great grandchildren, Krystal and Matt of Rumford, ME; four sisters, Yvette Foisy of Springfield, MA, Lorette Merrill of Northridge, CA, Cecile Bourque and Florette Dubuc of Berlin; one brother Robert Salvas of Berlin and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 13, 2013 in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH. Interment will follow in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 to 11 AM, prior to the service.
