Florrie "Fio" Torro from Hamsphire Street passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital following a brief illness. He was 94 years old.
Born in Berlin, NH on April 4, 1922 he was the son of Dominic and Nicolina (Dalphone) Torro.
Florrie served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. He served in World War II aboard the battleship Iowa, and received many metals during the time he served.
He married Josephine (Nicoletti) and they made their home here in Berlin.
Florrie worked for James River Corp as an oiler until his retirement in the 1980s.
He enjoyed being outdoors and loved taking care of his garden.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Josephine who passed away in 2011, his aunts Tina Gemmiti, Mary Berquist; an uncle Tony Dalphonse; his sisters Catherine Morin, Theresa Landry; a brother Joseph Torro; brother-in-laws Paul Morin, Lawrence Roy, Victor Savchick and Donald Nicoletti; sister-in-laws Theresa (Nicoletti) Ramsey and Janet Nicoletti; nephews David Landry and Roger Torro.
He leaves behind his brother Albert Torro; sisters Voila Roy, Mary Savchick all of Berlin; sister Doris Torro of Watertown, MA; brother-in-laws Robert Landry, Gerard Ramsey, Sr. and John Nicoletti and wife Julie of Manchester, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Burial will follow at St. Kieran Cemetery.
