Gerard Robert Turcotte, 71 passed away Dec. 20, 2018, in Port Charlotte, Fla., with his wife, son and daughter-in-law at his side. Born Sept. 25, 1947, in Berlin, N.H., he was the son of the late Gerard and Aline (Guay) Turcotte.
During his life, he held many positions including Army officer, teacher, welder, plumber, concrete finisher and electrician; however, his proudest titles were husband, dad, brother, mon oncle and friend. His love for family was his foundation.
He will always be remembered for his infectious smile that beamed ear to ear, and his laugh that filled the room. His vibrant personality and love for life was shared with everyone around him. He was an adventurer and loved a good road trip. He understood that the mishaps and detours along the way would be the memories to laugh about some day. He loved to ski, hike, camp and sail.
He was a great storyteller and a man of many talents who could fix anything, usually with something found in a jar in the garage! If you needed a helping hand, a sharp mind to talk through a technical issue or a skilled electrician, he was your first phone call. He prided himself on being fair and was guided by his commitment to doing the right thing above all.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia Turcotte of Port Charlotte, Fla.; son Dennis Turcotte and wife Karen; stepdaughter Lisa Coulumbe and husband David; stepsons Finley Losch and wife Nicole, Robert Cone and wife Katie; stepdaughter Karla Patrick; along with grandchildren Kaden, Rider, Harley, Caidence and Colton. He is also survived by his five sisters, Maria Elena Dubois and husband Richard, Jacqueline Chapdelaine, Priscilla Albert and husband Roland, Denise Bergeron and husband Paul, and Carol Porter and husband Andrew. He also leaves behind beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and countless close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by nephew, Ryan Corrigan.
