Gertrude E. Bisson, 93, of Ash Street passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, NH following a period of declining health.
Born on January 1, 1923 in Berlin, NH, she was the daughter of the late John and Angeline (McIntyre) Murphy. She was a 1941graduate of Berlin High School.
On April 25, 1946, she married Armand Bisson of Berlin. Retiring in 1976, she was employed at New England Telephone and Telegraph as a telephone operator and as a cashier.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her greatest love was her family, she was a very loving, caring and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In her spare time, she enjoyed decorating wedding cakes, playing cards, and was an accomplished artist, especially oil paintings.
She was a member of the former St. Kieran Parish now known as St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her parents, her husband Armand on September 7, 1992; two brothers Wilfred Murphy and Arnold Murphy; and a nephew James Murphy.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Bouchard and husband Jean of Berlin, NH; a granddaughter Lauren Rainbow of Manchester, NH, and Russell Otis and companion Debbie Sheehan; a great-grandson Maxwell Otis of Berlin, two nieces Karen Murphy and Kathy Stocker both of Lebanon, NH; three grandnieces Tamara, Kayla, & Jasmine; and a grandnephew CJ all of Lebanon, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday, May 2 at Holy Family Church in Gorham. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Gorham.
A calling hour will be held (prior to the mass) from 8:30am to 9:15am Monday, May 2 at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH.
