Gilberte (Cloutier) Tremblay, RN, 93, of Berlin, passed away on Wednesday August 14, 2024 at her home. She was born on February 2, 1931 in Dixville, PQ, Canada the daughter of Donat and Rose (Cloutier) Cloutier and has been a resident of Berlin since 1942. She graduated from Angel Guardian School Class of 1948, Notre Dame High School Class of 1952 and St. Mary’s General Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston, ME, Class of 1955. She completed the Disability Consultant Training Program in 1992 and also obtained a Doctorate from the Clayton School of Natural Healing in Birmingham, AL on March 9, 1995. Gilberte had worked as a RN at the former St. Louis Hospital, Berlin City Hall as a Public Health District Nurse from 1956-1959, at the Chetwynde Nursing Home in Newton, MA in 1968 and at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital until July 1990, when she became disabled. She was a Share Food Program monthly volunteer for 7 years, until 3/8/2000 and became involved in the AARP Senior Community Program at St. Vincent de Paul on July 14, 1998 as an In-Service Clerk until August 9, 2002 and in between worked for Josee Bourbeau, MD and Namrata Haldipur, MD from 11/29/99 until 1/6/00 and was then transferred to Coos County Family Health Services on August 14, 2002 and became a Logician, initial chart pre-loader and later assigned to the Medical Records Department until October 31, 2015. She was a member of St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish and had been a member of the choir for 8 years. Gilberte had benne a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, the Golden Age, MESH Club, a Life Member of the D. A. V. Auxiliary and became a Minister of Universal Life Church on 3/22/1996.
For a woman who was affectionately known as “Sa mere” by her husband Ernest, Gilberte worked the last years of her elongated life as a records clerk at Coos County Family Health on Pleasant Street in Berlin. She loved this job, that she was able to obtain by taking a computer course at the Vocational College in Berlin. With failing eyesight, she the “The Bus” to and from work until she could no longer see the computer screen. “Thank You”, to the wonderful people at Coos County Family Health for giving her this wonderful gift and keeping her employed as long as they could.
Family includes her son Maurice and Janet; grandsons Tyler and Dylan of Berlin, NH and son Michel and wife Lynn of Gorham, NH; sister Lina C. Palmacci of Medford, MA,brother Raymond Cloutier of Queens Village, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Ernest, who died on May 5, 1996 at age 70 and her siblings Bertha Roy, Adophe who drowned in 1950 at age 18, Emile who died in 2002 at age 72, her mother Rose in 1965 at age 56 and her father Donat in 1970 at age 68.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 19, 2024 at 1 PM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery.
