Gladys M Murphy

Gladys M. (Dugas) Murphy, 91, of Berlin, passed away on Tuesday January 26, 2016 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehab and Nursing Center in Berlin. She was born in Berlin on September 2, 1924 the daughter of Majorique and Emma (Brooks) Dugas and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Berlin High and was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, the Ladies of St. Anne and the Marie Rivier Association. She enjoyed knitting and made over 2000 pairs of mittens for the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop and the Sisters of Presentation. She had also volunteered at AVH and the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop. Gladys was a political activist for the Democratic Party, working for the elections from 1956-1976 and was the Supervisor of the Checklist from 1976-2000. Family includes her daughters Helen Tucker and husband Bill of Valdosta, GA and Therese Montminy and her husband Roland of Berlin, NH; sons Raymond Murphy and wife Dolores of Manchester, NH, Henry Murphy and wife Lucille of Manchester, NH and Dennis Murphy and wife Nancy of Berlin, NH; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters Doris Fortier of Berlin, NH and Sr. Blanche Dugas, Presentation of Mary, Manchester, NH; brother Raymond Dugas and wife Olive of Berlin, NH; brother-in-law George Murphy; sister-in-law Jeannette Croteau; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Murphy in 1989, a brother Lionel Dugas and a grandson Timothy Murphy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 6, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday February 5 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
