Gregory Mortenson

Gregory Mortenson, 61, of Berlin, passed away peacefully at his home with family on Sunday, October 27, 2024. He was born in Berlin on September 29, 1963, the son of the late Richard A. Mortenson and Marilyn A. (Lyons) Boucher. Greg was a graduate of Berlin High School Class of 1983 and relocated to Texas, working for Marmon Motors. After returning to the area, he was employed by Black Mountain Ski Area in the maintenance department, and later for Wildcat and Attitash. For many years, he was a laborer for Local 668 out of Hooksett, NH, working on many large projects during his career. Most recently, he was employed by Walmart in North Conway as the produce manager. Greg loved sports and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a softball coach for the co-ed league, enjoyed time spent golfing, and camping every summer at White Birches Campground. Greg loved spending time together with his family, and was especially attached to his granddaughter, Olive Marie. 

He is survived by his children, Derek Mortenson and fiancée Rebekah Cluett of Manchester, NH, and Stephanie Tyler and husband Steven of Berlin; granddaughter Olive Marie; siblings, Joy MacDonald and husband Trent Giles of Lovell, ME, and Jett Gudz and husband Greg of Peru, NY; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews including: Jason Leveille and wife Kate, Casey Leveille and wife Lynsie, Cathy Garcia, Kori MacDonald and wife Hannah, and Emily Gudz; and a lifelong friend Steve Landers and wife Paula. He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings Dean Mortenson, Stephen Mortenson, and Richard Mortenson, and his nephew Ian MacDonald.

Greg's family will host a celebration of his life on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 12-3pm at the White Mountain Chalet, East Milan Road, Berlin. There will be no calling hours.
