Harry B. Martin, Jr.

Mr. Harry B. Martin, Jr., 90, of Berlin, passed away on December 24, 2023 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin after a period of failing health.  He was born in Newport, NH on April 22, 1933 the son of the late Harry B. Martin, Sr. and Loretta (Sordiff) Martin.  Harry served in the US Army in Korea where he served in the Military Police for two years, and upon discharge, he moved to Alaska for a couple of years before returning to Concord, NH where he met his wife.  Following their marriage on November 4, 1956, the couple moved to Miami, FL where they lived for 1 ½ years before moving to Berlin where Harry worked for the Brown Company before entering the construction field ending his career in Bellingham, MA, where they resided for 30 years. Harry worked as a Police Officer in Berlin, Milan, Errol and Jefferson.  He taught martial arts and boxing, having traveled to Japan while in the service and training there. 

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lucille Martin of Berlin; 5 children: Harry B. Martin III and wife Dorothy of Sunapee, NH, Dewey T. Martin and wife Susan of Gorham, Mark S. Martin and wife Susan of Berlin, Scott A. Martin and wife Laurie of New Ipswich, NH and Gregg D. Martin and companion James Mercado of San Jose, CA; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; 4 siblings George Martin of Mobile, AL, Mary Farrell of Barnstead, NH, Alice Bonenfant of West Springfield, MA and Nancy Martin of Londonderry, NH; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his siblings Rose Dow, Betty Place and John C. Martin.

A Memorial Service will be held on Jan. 5, 2024 at 10 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin.  There will be no calling hours.  Donations in his memory may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in support of his granddaughter Kylee.
