Helen L. Corcoran, 67, of 70 Horne Street, Berlin passed away on Thursday afternoon, June 9, 2005 at the St. Vincent de Paul Health Care Center in Berlin, after a short stay and a two year battle with lymphoma. She was born in Milan, NH on December 10, 1937, the daughter of Martin J. and Leah (Fanjoy) Corcoran. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1957 and as an adult learner, received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and business management from Franklin Pierce College, Rindge, NH, in January 1986. She worked at General Electric in Syracuse, NY for a number of years before returning to NH, where she worked as a counselor at the School for the Deaf at Crotched Mountain. From 1983, when she moved to Hillsborough, until 1999, when she retired, she was employed at Osram-Sylvania, Inc. in Hillsborough, NH. Ms. Corcoran moved back to Berlin after retirement. She was an active member of the First Baptist Christian Womens Group and a member of the Board of Christian Education of the First Baptist Church. While living in Hillsborough, she was a member of the Hillsborough United Methodist Church and served as treasurer. She participated in the March of Dimes Walkathon and raised funds with the Calendar Program. The Calendar Program plans to dedicate their efforts for the 2006 Calendar in her honor. Members of her family include six brothers Chester A. Corcoran of Berlin, Wm. Theo Corcoran of Claremont, NH, Robert M. Corcoran of Milan, Mark F. Corcoran of Berlin, Norman J. Corcoran of Berlin and James S. Corcoran of Hinesburg, VT; five sisters Charlotte C. Bolduc of Waterville, ME, Frances I. Gallagher of Berlin, NH, Priscilla A. Gorton of New Bern, NC, Jean E. Hall of Seattle, WA and Carol M. Kilmain of West Roxbury, MA; and many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Saturday, June 18 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 79 High Street, Berlin, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue in Berlin on Friday, June 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery in Berlin. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to the First Baptist Church, Elevator Fund, 79 High Street, Berlin, NH 03570.
