Mrs. Helen Elizabeth (Sullivan) Legassie, 95, formerly of 496 Second Avenue, passed away on Monday September 14, 2009 at the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin, where she resided for the past few years. She was born in Ridlonville, (Rumford), ME on December 1, 1913 the daughter of John C. and Helen E. (Robbins) Sullivan and lived most of her life in Berlin. In Helens earlier years, she was a waitress at the Hotel Costello and had been employed in the towel room of Brown Company. She was a member of St. Kieran Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish. She enjoyed writing poetry, dining out, making peanut butter fudge, knitting and crocheting. Her best enjoyment was spending time with her family. Helen will be sadly missed by her family. Members of the family include her 2 grandsons Anthony Adair and wife Brenda of Berlin, NH and Daren Adair and fiancee Karen of Whitefield, NH; great grandchildren; her sister Theresa Duquette of Berlin, NH; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Orton Legassie, a daughter Janice Lee Adair, a son Robert G. Adair, a brother John Sullivan, 3 sisters Dorothy Leveille, Margaret Connors and Marion Sheets. Funeral Services will be celebrated on Saturday September 19, 2009 at 1 PM in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin on Saturday from 12 to 1 PM, prior to the service. Donations in her memory may be made to the Coos County Nursing Home Activities Fund.
