Helen D Marcou

Helen D. Marcou, 71, of Gorham, passed away on Thursday April 17, 2025 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Berlin on November 24, 1953 the daughter of Wilfred and Alice (Hurley) Gilbert and was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and had been employed by Alta Ma Delta, Granite State, Car Freshener, Welsh’s Restaurant, the Gorham Diner and Vashaw’s Variety. Helen was a member of Holy Family Church and enjoyed reading, playing games, scratch tickets and enjoyed walking in her younger years.

Family includes her children Erin Nickerson and husband Marc of Epping, NH and Chad Marcou and spouse Ricarda stationed at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany; 2 step-children Richard Marcou and wife Lisa of Canterbury, NH and Lisa Dodge and husband Greg of Epping, NH; grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers Albert Gilbert and wife Donna of Gorham, NH and Joe Gilbert of Wellington, Florida; best childhood friends Leslie Landry of Melrose, MA and Jan Godin of Gorham, NH; nieces, nephews, cousins and fur grandbabies Rosalie and Heidi. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel “Danny” Marcou, siblings William Gilbert, Eugene Gilbert and Edward Gilbert and her sister-in-law Ramona Gilbert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church at a later date with interment in the Calvary Cemetery.
