James Marquis, 94, passed away at his home on Sunday morning August 21, 2016. Mr. Marquis was born in Berlin on June 30, 1922 a son of the late David and Harriet (Arnesen) Marquis and was a lifelong resident. After high school, he served with the U.S. Army during WWII and had been at the Battle of the Bulge. James received the Bronze Star and Croix de Guerre. James worked as a lineman for New England Telephone Company for many years. He enjoyed walking, sitting by camp fires, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing baseball and coaching Little League and Babe Ruth. James was an avid Yankees and Patriot Fan. He was a member of St. Kieran Church, now known as St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Members of the family include; 1 daughter Donna DeBlois and husband David; 2 sons Norman Marquis and wife Patricia and Scott Marquis and wife Lisa; 2 grandchildren Darcie Rivard and Alexander Marquis; 2 great-grandchildren Vera and Margaret. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth A. (Pilgrim) Marquis in 2009 and 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning August 23, 2016 at 10 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Interment will follow in New City Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 9-10 AM
