James P. Wiswell, 77, of Berlin, NH passed away peacefully, on December 28, 2023 at his home. He was born in Berlin, NH on March 18, 1946 the son of the late Clayton and Lorraine (Goss) Wiswell and has been a lifelong resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as an Iron Worker for many years, had worked in the paper mill, as well as Berlin City Dealerships, and most recently Santa’s Village in Jefferson. James was a member of Iron Workers Local #7 and #161. He had served as a Council member for the city of Berlin for several years, as well as the military, and one term in the State Legislature.
Jim was a jokester. Always trying to make you laugh. You never knew when he was pulling one over on you. He loved camp. He loved fishing, tinkering on vehicles, sitting around the campfire, music, stargazing, and taking “buggy” rides. But most of all he loved his family. He adored his granddaughter and acquired more “grandkids” that became family, along the way. He was everybody’s Umpa (grandfather).
Members of the family include his wife Louisette Wiswell of Berlin; daughter Jessica Duchesne, husband David and granddaughter Kennedy of Berlin; son Christopher Wiswell of Jefferson; his brothers John Wiswell and wife Frances of Kingston, WA and Kenneth Wiswell and wife Deborah of Greenville, SC; he also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
