Jean Lemieux

October 18, 1940 — October 6, 2024

Berlin, NH

On Sunday October 6, 2024 Jean (Beaudoin) Lemieux, born October 18, 1940 passed away just shy of her 84th birthday. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family after losing her battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

She will be missed by her husband of 56 years Arthur “Pete” Lemieux, her daughter Joanna Whittington, son Jeremy Lemieux and his wife Vanessa Morskate, grandchildren Calvin Whittington, Zach and Sam Morskate-Lemieux, sister Anajai Jodrie, honored friend Mary Beth Fitzpatrick, granddogs Ruthie and Raskin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Lois (Beaulac) Beaudoin and Adrien Beaudoin, brothers Michael Beaudoin and John Beaudoin, sister Adrienne “Susie” Beaudoin, and her son Jonathan Lemieux.

Jean was born and raised in Berlin, NH, she attended Plymouth State University and University of New Hampshire but returned to Berlin to raise her family. She was a long time member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and climbed the 48 4,000 footers in New Hampshire. She was a voracious reader and puzzle solver. She made sure all of her children knew how to read a map and were master swimmers. She was always finding new hobbies, line dancing, gardening, antique shopping, and riding her beloved horse Tinsel. She loved playing cards with her friends, Friday night couples dinners, going to camp, and Caribbean Island hopping with Pete. No matter the question she always had the answer, she was the original Google.

She worked for the USDA Forest Service Androscoggin Ranger District for 30 years as an Administrative Ranger and Forest Fire Dispatcher. Her messy desk was where all answers could be found. She volunteered annually at the Forest Service Fishing Derby at Wildcat and portrayed Smokey Bear, Woodsy Owl and Dolly Copp in educational programs for the public.

Upon retiring she became an enthusiastic volunteer for the Berlin Food Pantry, The Red Cross, Androscoggin Valley Hospital, and the City,of Berlin as Supervisor of the Checklist. In her free time she took a part time job at The Douglas A Philbrook Red Barn Museum at the base of Mt Washington. “The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity” was one of her favorite quotes.
