John Richmond "Rick" Sloan

John Richmond "Rick" Sloan of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away from congestive heart failure in Berlin, New Hampshire. Rick was born to Walter Richmond Sloan and Louise Veasey Sloan on January 23, 1948 at Watts Hospital in Durham NC. He was a familiar and beloved presence on Franklin Street, having worked at his parent's store, Wentworth and Sloan Jewelers, much of his life, and having been a member of the last class to graduate from Chapel Hill High School when it was located downtown. Rick attended Campbell College, returning to Chapel Hill to work at the family business, before taking his well-known Southern charm and sense of humor up to New England for others to enjoy. Rick is survived by numerous cousins throughout the Carolinas and in Florida. Interment will be held in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. .
