John D. Sheets

 John D. Sheets, 67, of Berlin, passed away unexpectedly at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin on Wednesday October 30, 2024 after a sudden illness. He was born in Fort Belvoir, VA on February 18, 1957 the son of the late John P. and Marion (Sullivan) Sheets and graduated Gorham High School Class of 1975. He entered the New Hampshire National Guard where he served for many years and had also served with the local fire departments. John was a truck driver, and over the years worked for Gemmiti Paving, Currier Trucking, RJ Chipping, Wausau Carriers of Wisconsin and Alvin J. Coleman for last several years. He loved sports; soccer, fishing, hunting, and had recently started traveling. He and Diane took a 7-week cross -country trip with their RV this spring and visited Washington DC for the cherry blossoms, Tennessee to Jack Daniels factory and to Nashville and numerous national parks. 

John loved coaching soccer and basketball in both Berlin and Gorham, and was starting to coach again for his grandson. He was very social and loved helping people. He had served as the President of the North Country Drivers Assoc. for several years. He always had a project going with his brother from another mother, Bob Nadeau, and enjoyed redoing the house and working on the camp.

He is survived by his wife Diane (Girouard) Sheets of Berlin; a daughter Kelly Sheets-Tully and husband Alexander of Berlin; grandson Vincent; three sisters: Debra Pelkey of Berlin, Betty Ann Sheets-Bennett and husband Tod of Kissimmee, FL and Roberta Dickerson and husband Carl of Exeter, NH; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Raymond Pelkey, Ronald Gillis and Marcel Girouard.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday November 4, 2024 at 10 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday November 3, 2024 from 2 to 4 PM. Donations may be made to the Toys for Tots Program. Online guestbook at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.
