Joseph "Leroy" Springer, Jr

Joseph Leroy Springer, Jr., 66, of Berlin, passed away on Monday May 14, 2018 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born in Berlin, NH on March 12, 1952 the son of Joseph L. and Beatrice (Bergeron) Springer, Sr. and lived in Berlin most of his life. He moved to Missouri one and one-half years ago. He had been employed by the local paper mill for many years, retiring from Pulp and Paper of America. Leroy was an avid hunter and fisherman and taught hunter safety for many years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a member of the Fur, Feather and Fin Club and a former member of the Millsfield Club. Family includes his son Dustin Springer of Berlin, NH; step-son Dennis DeCosta of Berlin, NH; grandson Keith DeCosta, US Army, stationed in OK; sister Jeannette Dion of Sebring, FL; brother Norman Springer of Baton Rouge, LA; nieces, nephews and many cousins; companion Connie Elliot of Springfield, MO. He was predeceased by his wife Debra (DeCosta) Springer in 2005. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday May 24, 2018 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Berlin at 4 PM. Interment will be at a later date. The Bryant Funeral Home in Berlin is in charge of the arrangements.
