Joyce Pelchat, 86, of Berlin, NH, passed away on Sunday October 5, 2014 at the Concord Hospice House in Concord, NH. She was born in Berlin on May 22, 1928 the daughter of Henry and Antoinette Bedard and was a lifelong resident. She had been employed at Brown Company in the Office Tabulating Department. Joyce married her spouse, George Pelchat, on September 22 and they were married for 58 years. She loved to travel and had been to Europe, Italy, England, Austria, Ireland, Rhine and Danube river cruises, the United States, Canadian Rockies, Vancouver and Alaska. She also traveled to Myrtle Beach for many years and to Florida to see the Red Sox train and also to St. Augustine. Joyce volunteered at the St. Kieran Parish, the St. Kieran Center for the Arts, the food bank, was a CCD teacher and a director with the late Sheila McQuilen. She volunteered at Brown School as a teachers aide, loved to help the children of Berlin and sponsored children in South America and was also a Cub Scout Den Mother. Joyce loved to shop, spend time with her family, dancing, cooking, knitting, playing cards, going to Curves and was a voracious reader. Family includes her husband George Pelchat of Berlin, NH; her son Michael Pelchat and wife Heidi of Webster, NH ; a grandson Thomas Pelchat of Webster, NH; brothers Donald Bedard of Rutland, VT and Roger Bedard of Littleton, NH; multiple nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Richard and David. A Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Thursday October 9, 2014 at 1 PM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Kieran Center for the Arts, PO Box 339, Berlin, NH, 03570 or the food pantry at St. Vincent de Paul Society, 612 Hillsborough St., Berlin, NH, 03570.
