Larry C. Hodgman, 83, of Berlin passed away Thursday November 26, 2015 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. Larry was born in Berlin on November 2, 1932 the son of Elliot and Ilvah (Ray) Hodgman and was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from Berlin High School in 1952, where he played High School Football, Baseball and Ski Jumping. He was employed by the City of Berlin Water Works Dept. for 37 years, retiring as Superintendent. Larry was a Life Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a member of Nansen Ski Club and of the U.S Ski Association of America since 1962. In his younger years he was an avid ski jumper, loved to play baseball and softball. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid New York sports fan. Members of his family include; 3 daughters Paula Hamel and her husband Gerry of Milan, NH, Laurie Madore-Webb and her husband Albert of Lakeland, FL and Kathy Jewett and her husband Robert of Berlin, NH; 2 sons Guy Hodgman and his wife Helen of Florida and Scott Hodgman and companion Lynne Lemieux of Berlin, NH, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a sister Alta Virtue of Manchester, NH, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife Pauline (Tankard) Hodgman in 1968, his second wife Claire E. (Valliere) Hodgman in 2007, grandsons Derek Hodgman and Nathan Hodgman, stepson Robert Madore, daughter in-law Beverly Hodgman and a sister Joan Aubin. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday morning December 2, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Russian City Cemetery in Berlin, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Tuesday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the Nansen Ski Club, PO Box 222, Berlin, NH 03570.
