Lawrence C. Watkins

Lawrence C. "Larry" Watkins, 77, of Berlin, NH and formerly of New York City, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Kansas on March 31, 1946 the son of the late Glen and Winona (Zimmerman) Watkins. While working on his doctorate in Paris, he attended a church service and met an American actress by the name of Gayle Greene, who was teaching acting classes. The two fell in love and remained so throughout their nearly 33 years of marriage. As a devote Christian and scholar, he knew as much about his faith as many church rectors.

For many years, Larry was employed as a Professor at Dominican Academy in New York City, as well as an Adjunct Professor at New York University. He was particularly well versed in Medieval History. 

Larry is survived by his loving wife Gayle Greene Watkins of Berlin; a son David Watkins of Kansas; as well as many friends. He was predeceased by a daughter Amy Watkins in 1999.

The family will host a funeral service on Saturday, March 16th at 2pm at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Berlin. Interment will take place at a future date.
