Leah M. Bernard

Leah M. Bernard, 96, of Gorham, passed away peacefully at her home following a recent illness. She was born on July 23, 1928 in Berlin, NH the daughter of the late Peter and Stella (Doiron) Rabidas and was lifelong resident of the area and she attended Guardian Angel School. She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, the Ladies of St. Anne and the Guardian Angle Thrift Shop. She helped with BINGO for many years for the Knights of Columbus and the St. Joseph Church. 

Leah was a waitress for over 40 years. She sold Stanley Home Products using a motorcycle with a wicker basket until she saved enough money to buy her first car. She enjoyed playing cards, especially with her partners Sylvia Bernier and Aurore Fournier, playing Majong, crocheting, gardening and snowmobiling. She loved time at camp at Pike Pond with close friends, calling themselves the "Pike Pond Girls".

Family includes her children Bernice Turgeon and husband Lionel of Milan, NH, Patricia Bermudez of Gorham, NH, Raymond Pare and wife Louise of Jefferson, NH, Ivan L. Pare and wife Diane of Saylorsburg, PA, David Bernard of Berlin, NH and Robert Bernard of Berlin, NH; grandchildren Jenah, George, Crystal, Alaina, Michael, Brianna, Dana and Diana; great grandchildren Noah, Hannah, Bryce, Aidan, Ashlyn, Guy, Griffin and Maura. She was predeceased by her first husband George Pare, her second husband Real Bernard, all of her siblings and a best friend, Claire Gogan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 10am at Holy Family Church, Church St., Gorham with interment following in the Holy Family Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd from 5-7pm.
