Leo Joseph Paul Croteau, 81, of Berlin, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital.  He was born in Berlin on February 1, 1943 the son of the late Lorando and Florence (Lemoine) Croteau.  He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam, and received the USAF Commendation for missions he went on during his tour of duty.  Leo was employed for many years as a Piper for Brown Co, James River Corp. and Fraser Paper Co.  He loved animals, and was particularly fond of his dog Spike.  In his younger years he enjoyed playing hockey on Friday nights with the mill crew as well as following the Boston Bruins.  He was also a champion arm wrestler and taking car rides, frequently taking trips to the casino and enjoying meals in local restaurants.  He will be remembered by many for his contagious smile.

He is survived by his wife Ann (Goulet) Croteau of Berlin; son Paul Croteau and partner Tina Bertin of Berlin; daughter Michele Chapman and husband Tim Chapman of Gorham; his beloved grandchildren:  Ajay Landry, Sidney Chapman, William Chapman, Annie Chapman, Denise, Adam, Paul and Leo Croteau; great grandchildren: Thomas, Ryana and Trinity; a brother Kenneth Croteau and wife Lynne of Berlin; nephew Keith Croteau (Jen) and their granddaughter Evelyn; niece Lori Coulombe (Keith) and their daughter Ashley.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10 am at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin with interment following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may attend calling hours on Friday May 10th, from 6-8 pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Dartmouth Cancer Center (formerly Norris Cotton Cancer Center), 1080 Hospital Dr., St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
