Mary L. McLain

Mary Lu-Anne McLain, 83, of Milan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin.  Mary was born on April 23, 1940 in Randolph, VT, the daughter of the late Andrew F. and Helen (Zegulich) McLain.  Her family moved to the Androscoggin Valley and she attended St. Patrick's School and later Milan Village School.  Upon graduation from St. Patrick's High School, she entered the United States Marine Corps where she honorably served 20 years, including service in Vietnam.  She retired in April of 1981 and moved back to the area and attended the Community College where she studied account and obtain a Bachelors degree in Business.  Mary worked for the Community College for several years, retiring in 2003.  She was a member of the Richard Demers Detachment Marine Corps League and White Mountain Post 2520 VFW.

She is survived by her brothers Kenneth McLain and his wife Darlene and Andrew McLain and his wife Lynn, all of Milan; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by seven siblings: Dorothy Derosier, Phyllis Jones, Helen Koeckeritz, Susan Tendler, Gail Beroney, Sally Conrad and Michael McLain.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, march 21, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin with military honors to follow.  Interment will take place privately at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.  At Mary's request, there will be no calling hours.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes.  Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.
