It is with great sadness that the family of Maurice A. Couture announces his passing, on April 21, 2018, at the age of 94. Maurice was predeceased by his mother and father Alphonse and Josephine Couture; his brothers Marcel and Raymond, and his Sister Rita; his beloved children, Paul Couture, and Louise Couture. He is survived by his wife Pierrette Couture and their children Ron and Joan Couture, Carol and Tom Agee, Robert Moore, Helen Couture, Denis and Nancy Couture and Deacon Mitch and Terry Couture, and his brother Robert Couture. He also leaves behind his legacy of 11 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren whom he loved deeply and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Maurice was born on April 18, 1924 in Brompton Ville P.Q Canada, and his family relocated to Berlin NH the same year. Maurice was a World War II veteran who served in the infantry at the battle of Anzio in Italy where he received the coveted Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, and was a scout leader in the Boy Scouts of America.
Maurice loved the simple things in life such as cooking his famous spaghetti and meatballs, and wood working which included making doll houses for all of his little "co cottes". Maurice grew up with a deep love of fishing, and passed this love down throughout his many generations of children and grandchildren most of which will remember catching their first fish with "pepere". He loved to tell stories and be surrounded by people, and spent his time soaking up the sun, reading his newspapers on the front porch, watching his favorite hockey team the Montreal Canadians play or just enjoying a nice slice of warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream.
Maurice was a great man who will be deeply missed by his family. He will be remembered as always having an open door to anyone who needed it, a man who was strict but fair, a man who loved his family and had a family who loved him back, a family who will always carry their own special story or two about how the fish was "this big", a time when my dad.or that time with my Pepere..
