Myrtle B. Howes, 92, passed away on Saturday September 5, 2015, at the Concord Hospice House in Concord, NH. Mrs. Howes was born in Stratton, ME on November 6, 1922 a daughter of Oramendal and Bertha Blanchard and lived there until 1946. She then moved to Portland, ME and to Hampton Bays, Long Island before moving to Berlin, NH in 1965, where she was employed as a teacher by the Berlin School System from 1965 to 1984. Myrtle moved to Hopkinton in 1998 and most recently has been a resident of Pittsfield, NH. She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Berlin, the Berlin Teachers Association, the National Education Association and the Rebekahs. Family members include her three sons, Randall Howes of Virginia Beach, VA, Richard Howes of Pittsfield, NH and Robert Howes of Newbury, NH; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including her nephew Edwin Durrell of IN. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer Howes. A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 12, 2015 at 1 PM at the Concordia Lutheran Church, 211 N. Main Street, Concord, NH. Interment will be in Mt. Hayes Cemetery in Gorham, NH. Relatives and friends may call prior to the service at the church from 12 to 1 PM. At the familys request all friends attending the service wear bright colors.
