Nathalie G. Savchick, 94, of Berlin, passed away on Tuesday September 8, 2015 at St. Vincent de Paul Center in Berlin. She was born in Kazvin, Iran on August 29, 1921 the daughter of Paul and Elena (Albova) Grivsky who had immigrated to Iran in the wake of the Russian Revolution. During WWII, while working as a Russian/English translator in the US Embassy in Tehran, she met and married Michael C. Savchick, who was attached to the US Army Persian Gulf Command, and became a naturalized US Citizen, living and raising her family in the United States since 1947. Nathalie worked at Vaillancourt and Woodward Insurance, managed the US Census in Coos County, worked at the College for Lifelong Learning, taught Russian in the Berlin Adult Education Program, was a longtime Berlin Public Library Trustee and also a member of the Androscoggin Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Nathalie was also an active and devoted member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church where she served for many years as a Trustee, its secretary/treasurer and its choir director. The widow of Michael Savchick, Sr., Natasha is survived by her sons Paul of Eaton, NH, Michael Jr. of Kittery, ME, and Dimitri of Brownfield, ME; a grandchild Lucia Savchick of Portsmouth, NH; and in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and their progeny too numerous to mention from the families Savchick, Rines, Labella, Lucius, Grivsky and Zahodiakin. She was predeceased by her sister Tatiana Zahodiakin and in-laws Lucien, Nicholas, Victor and Walter Savchick, and Nina Rines and Sophie Lucius. Funeral Services will be held on Monday September 21 at 10AM at the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Berlin. Interment will be in the Russian City Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on September 20 from 3PM to 5PM.
