Mr. Norman R. Richards, 86, of 1 Francis Street in Berlin, NH passed away on Sunday evening, March 21, 2010 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was born in Berlin, NH on August 14, 1923 the son of Rene and Cecile (Rheaume) Richards and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Berlin High School with the class of 1942, a graduate of Colby College and served in the US Army Signal Corps from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Richards was self employed for 50 years at Mt. Forist Studio, prior to that he was employed as a contractor with his father at Richards and Sons. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish; the Ryan-Scammon Post #36 of the American Legion, was a past Commander and Treasurer and was an active participant in the remodeling of the American Legion Post; a member of the Berlin Rotary Club, and later was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Berlin. He started a flying service in 1967 called Holiday Flying Service from the Berlin Municipal Airport with his close friends Richard Blais and Edward Ouellette, which they operated for three years. He enjoyed traveling with his family and enjoyed skiing with his wife Connie and his son Barry. He and his wife Connie have skied all over America and Europe. Members of his family include his wife of 41 years Constance M. (Dooen) of Berlin, NH; his son Barry Richards of Berlin, NH; a brother Lawrence Richards and his wife Phyllis of Berlin, NH; a sister Rita Ahart of Vienna, VA; nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church in Gorham. There will be no calling hours. Those attending are asked to meet at Holy Family Church for the Mass.
