Paule-Angele (Fillion) Theriault, age 94, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2015 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Berlin, NH where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Paule-Angele was born on November 20, 1920 in Senneterre, Abitibi, P.Q. Canada, the eldest child of Leopold and Eleonor (Rheaume) Fillion.
The family moved to Berlin when she was a young child where her father found work in the local paper mill. She graduated from Angel Guardian School and then remained home to care for her ailing mother and younger siblings.
After marrying Patrice Theriault (a Berlin native) in 1941 they began their married life in Waterbury CT. She worked for many years at the Risdon Box Shop making beautiful boxes for various upscale department stores. She was a former parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Church in Waterbury, and St Anthony's Church in Prospect, CT.
Paule-Angele had a contagious "joie de vivre" and her angelic smile even in the face of many of life's trials will be fondly remembered by all who cared for her. Her strong faith and love of the Blessed Mother got her through life. She loved going to the beach with her husband, skiing, singing and playing the organ, and sports, especially her UCONN basketball teams. Known also as Paula, and to others she was Paulette, she traveled all over the world with family and friends, loved outdoor work and even helped build her home with her husband in Prospect, CT.
She was predeceased by: her parents; her beloved husband Patrice on March 5, 1985; her 3 brothers: Raymond, Marcel (during WWII) and Gaston Fillion; sister-in-law Lucille Fillion; special friend Charles Metivier; and many cousins from Canada, Berlin, CT and RI.
Paule-Angele is survived by her nieces and nephews, the children she never had but doted on as though they were hers: Jacqueline Fillion Gagne, Michel Fillion and Leo Theriault of Berlin; Marcel, Paul and Donald Fillion of Florida; Denise Fillion Soucy of RI; Roland Fillion of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; Gary Austin of Wisconsin; Cheryl Tafas, Mark Austin and Elaine Masley of CT. She will also be missed by special long time friends and neighbors, Ron and Sandy Franco of CT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 11th at 10AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin, NH. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Church. Interment will be in the St. Anne Cemetery, Hutchins St, Berlin.
