Ramona Mary Marois, 103, passed away peacefully at the Coos County Home in Berlin, NH, on January 2, 2019. Born in Gorham to Archie and Alida Martel on May 23, 1915, she was a lifelong resident there until moving to the nursing home in 2015, just shy of her 100th birthday. She graduated Salutatorian of Gorham High School in 1933, and worked as a secretary for several years with Hamlin Real Estate. In 1939 she married Robert Marois, owner of Bobs Meat Market in Gorham; they had been married almost 54 years when he passed away in 1993. She was a parishioner of the Holy Family Church. She was a remarkable cook, an expert knitter, and made beautiful crewel embroideries. She had a green thumb; her houseplants thrived and she loved flowers. But her greatest love was her family she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was never happier than when hosting her family with wonderful dinners, especially at holidays. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, all six of her siblings and their spouses, and her beloved daughter-in-law, Janet. Surviving to remember her with love are her children: Robert, of York, Maine and Venice, Florida; Karla Printz and her husband, Gerd, of Lincroft, New Jersey; and David and his wife, Susan, of Queensbury, New York. She also leaves behind those who brought her such joy: six grand-daughters (Kristine, Karen, Erika, Stephanie, Monica and Andrea) and six great-grandchildren (Lauren, Kevin, Meghan, Ethan, Ella, and Madelyn), as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11 a.m., with visitation from 9-11 a.m. before the service. Interment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the wonderful care Ramona received during her four years at the Coos County Home, where her caregivers became her second family.
