Reginald D. "Reggie" Marquis, 65, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by loved ones on October 14th, 2017. He was born in Berlin, NH on September 8th, 1952 the son of the late David and Dorothy (Murray) Marquis and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1970 and attended Plymouth State College; majoring in Physical Education, but passionately minoring in partying. He was employed by the local paper mill for 46 years. He was selfless. A loving husband, father and grandfather; and was always looking to help others. His children and grandchildren brought him great joy, and he especially enjoyed watching them playing ball of any kind; often traveling many hours with his wife to catch a game and head home. Reggie was blessed with many friends that spanned amongst a number of generations, but everyone he met would immediately be treated as a friend. He was an accomplished athlete, and earned regional attention for his efforts. He cared for and supported the youth of Berlin NH through his service as a coach and referee of local youth sports programs, but those friendships went beyond the fields and courts. He was an avid cross-country skier and could often be found maintaining his yard, which was an oft-frequented social stop for locals. He is survived by his brothers, Ronnie Marquis of Gorham NH, Steve Marquis and wife Paulette of Berlin. His wife, Christine (Goyette) Marquis of Berlin; sons Shawn Marquis of Auburndale MA, Kevin Marquis and wife Tareena (Petrie) Marquis of Penacook NH, and their children Britteny Marquis of Berlin and Kylie Marquis of Penacook NH; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Sunday October 22, 2017 from 2:30 to 5 PM and the Town & Country in Shelburne, NH. The Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Donations in his memory may be made to the Nansen Ski Club, PO Box 222, Berlin, NH, 03570.
