Robert E. "Bob" Pelchat, 85, of Berlin, passed away on Monday March 24, 2025 at the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin after a period of declining health. Bob was born in Berlin on October 26, 1939, the son of the late Lionel and Anita (Hachez) Pelchat, and was a lifelong resident. A graduate of Berlin High School with the Class of 1958, he entered the United States Air Force where he served 4 years and was stationed in France for a time, where he was affectionately known as "Frenchy." He married the love of his life, Louise (Cayouette) on August 3, 1963, and together they raised three children.
Bob worked for Time Warner Cable for 31 ½ years and then for White Mountain Cable for 18 years, spending much of his time in the Colebrook area. Following his retirement, he worked part-time for the Bryant Funeral Homes, where he took great pride in keeping the fleet of automobiles meticulously clean, ensuring they were always ready to serve at a moment's notice.
Bob's faith guided him throughout his life. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph Church, now Good Shepherd Parish, where he served in various roles, including cantor and lector. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and a past Faithful Navigator. Over the years, he was actively involved in his community, serving on the boards of numerous organizations. He was a past President of the Board of Directors of Coos County Family Health Services, past President and Treasurer of the Androscoggin Valley Fish & Game Association, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was also a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Berlin, where he had served as President and Lieutenant Governor. In addition to his civic involvement, he served on the Board of Assessors, was a Supervisor of the Checklist, and was a member of the Ryan-Scammon American Legion Post #36.
He is survived by his wife Louise Pelchat of Berlin; his daughter Lynn Gendron and husband Dana of Berlin; his two sons Steven Pelchat and wife Rebecca of Intervale, NH and Brian Pelchat and companion Brenda Morency of Berlin; his five granddaughters: Nicole Quint and husband Tyler, Erika Gendron and companion Ryan Richard, Stacy Gendron, Gwendolyn Pelchat and Mallory Pelchat; his great granddaughter Paige Riley Quint; his sister Louise Pelletier of Gorham; several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by his sister Lucille Delisle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday March 28, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin with interment following at St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM from at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin.
