It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rockland (Rocky) Jones, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who passed away at his home he helped build with his wife along the Pemigewasset River at the age of 74. Rocky was born to Richard and Betty Jones in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen, his three children Kim Lafleur (husband Jeffrey), Jennifer Jones and Ryan Jones (wife Elizabeth), his 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Rocky was predeceased by both his parents. Rocky also has a sister Diane Holmes and a brother Steve Jones. Rocky’s presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Rocky was a proud Marine who served with honor and dedication. His commitment to his country and his sense of duty were unparalleled, and he carried the values of the Marine Corps with him throughout his life.
After his service, Rocky enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing, and trapping where he found peace and solace. His love for nature was matched only by his devotion to his family. He loved maple sugaring, racing season, and fishing, where he could be with and watch his children and grandchildren. He liked to follow his grandchildren's passion for playing hockey, gymnastics, and horsemanship.
Rocky was fortunate to take on many roles in the community from being a police officer to the local hunter safety teacher. Rocky and Helen owned and operated a dairy distribution business and later he had a taxidermy business.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Rocky's life and legacy on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 4 to 7pm at the Woodstock Inn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Legion Post 83 Scholarship Fund, PO Box 401, Lincoln, NH 03251.
Rocky’s love for his country, his family, and the great outdoors will forever be remembered.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes & Crematory, Berlin and Gorham, NH. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.bryantcares.com.
