Roger Albert, 72, sadly passed away in the warm embrace of his wife, until his final breath on January 10, 2024, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, from a tragic fall. He was born in Berlin on June, 28,1951, to Jane (Henry) Clark and Paul Albert. Roger had several jobs throughout his lifetime, including time working at the mills in Manchester, as a programmer at Digital Computers, at Ace Hardware, Rite Aid, and Brooks Pharmacy, and he ended his career as a distributor for Kehe Foods at grocery stores throughout the Mount Washington Valley.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (Demers) Albert, of Gorham; his beloved dog, Buddy; a daughter, Melissa Albert, of California; a son, Daniel Albert and his wife Mona Hegli of Norway; and two stepsons, Andrew Mortenson of Boston, Massachusetts; and Dr. Arik Mortenson and his husband Michael McCaffrey of Essex, Vermont; and four grandchildren, Amber, Lexie, Jakob, and Julia. He also has a half-sister, Theatta Smith, of California. He is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Roger was predeceased by his mother, Jane Clark, and his father, Paul Albert.
While his family is grieving his unexpected passing, they are also celebrating and remembering the special moments that they had with Roger. His humor and generosity were unmatched. In the last several months of his life, he exuded joy and had recently returned to his favorite hobby, rockhounding, after joining the Presidential Gem and Mineral Society. He enjoyed being outdoors, and could often be found working in his yard, in which he took great pride, or exploring the woods throughout our communities.
The family would like to thank the neighbors, doctors, nurses, and ambulance staff for their care of Roger and his family.
A Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 12-2pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham. We will gather to share stories and memories of Roger during this time. Roger was a casual man, and he would want all who attend to dress comfortably (jeans are welcome). All of those who knew and loved him are asked to honor him by exemplifying the kindness and generosity he shared with others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Presidential Gem & Mineral Society Scholarship Fund, ℅ Jennifer Caron, 796 US RT 3, Stratford, NH 03590. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.
