SANBORNTON------- Shirley Boucher, 89, died peacefully at home, on April 3rd, 2025. She was born in Berlin, NH on July 22, 1935, the daughter of Arthur Nelson and Lillian Clara (Burlock) Goyette.
She was educated in the Berlin schools and graduated from Berlin High School in the class of 1953. She married Joseph “Mun” Boucher in 1954. He was a career Army officer and this enabled them to travel extensively.
She was a Red Cross Volunteer and donated many hours at the Army hospitals where the family was stationed. She was also involved with the developmentally handicapped children and volunteered her time at special needs schools in Kansas and in Berlin, NH.
She served as secretary in the PTA in the Virginia school system as well as being a teacher’s aide there. She was an assistant Brownie Scout leader in Berlin and an assistant Cub Scout leader in Annandale, Virginia. She also worked as a sales associate in a lamp store, in Annandale, Virginia.
During a three-year tour of duty in Anchorage, Alaska she worked at the Fort Richardson Alaska Army Post thrift shop. She was also active in the Military Ski Club and the Military Snowmobile Club on Post as well. She was a homemaker and mother who enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, knitting, crafts, reading and camping with the family.
She is survived by her two daughters; Debra LaPierre and Kathy Nyman, one son, Alan Boucher, 3 grandchildren and one great grandchild, one brother; Arthur, of Harrah, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joe/Mun and by her brother Paul of Santa Maria, CA.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday May 31st from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave. Berlin, NH. Following the calling hours a luncheon will be held at the Town & Country Inn and Resort, 20 Rt. 2 Shelburne, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the NH Humane Society, P.O. Box 572, Laconia, NH 03246.
