Sophia O. Langley, 89, passed away on Friday November 27, 2015 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. Mrs. Langley was born in Berlin on July 21, 1926 the daughter of John and Olga (Kluchnick) Sazonick and was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from Berlin High School in 1944 and during WWII she served in the Defense Plant in Connecticut. She worked at Globe Shopping Center and at Savemore Dept. Store until they closed. Sophia was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, where she served on the Alter Guild. She was an avid New York Yankees Fan, liked the beach, gardening, and birds, was a great cook and she loved her cats. She also enjoyed Opera and classical music. Sophia had fond memories of her trips to the Western National Parks with her brother Paul and his wife. Family members include her daughters Christina Levasseur of Berlin and Jill Langley of Sedona, AZ, a granddaughter Johannah Langley of Portsmouth, NH; 3 brothers Leon Sazonick of Berlin, Paul Sazonick of Salida, CO, Alfred Sazonick of Butte, MT; a sister Jennie Stevens of Williamsburg, MA; nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear friend Glenna Brooks of Berlin. She was predeceased by her husband Warren J. Langley in 1978; two sons Michael Langley in 2001 and Peter J. Langley in 2011; 1 sister Mary Theberge; 2 brothers John Sazonick Jr. and Nicholas Sazonick. At Sophias request, there will be no calling hours. The funeral service will be private. Interment will be in the Russian City Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 2 High St.,Berlin, NH 03570.
