Victor (Vic) Roy, 91, of Berlin, passed away on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025 from injuries sustained in a fall. Vic was born on March 6th, 1934, the son of Ovila and Rosilda (Hamel) Roy. Vic was the heart and lifeline of his family, the one who brought warmth to every room, laughter to every conversation, and comfort in everyday challenges. To know him was to be loved and cared for by him- completely, selflessly, and without hesitation.
Vic was a devoted husband to his wife, Jeanne, in a partnership that lasted seventy years. Together, they made a beautiful family, built on the foundations of love, hard work, and generosity. His career and talents spanned from “bed pan jockey” to painter and everything in between. He worked in the Berlin Paper Mills for 43 years. He believed that a life well-lived was one spent working hard, not just for himself but for those he loved. He tirelessly took care of all of his neighbors over the years, asking for or expecting nothing in return. From shoveling to plumbing, repairs, supplies, or just wisdom hard-earned he always had just what was needed. Outside of his love for his family, he found joy in bowling, fishing, broom hockey, gardening, and tinkering in his well organized basement. His sense of humor was as legendary as his kindness and he had a gift for making all those in his presence smile - often with a clever prank or a perfectly timed joke. He teased everyone with an infectious smile that made him unforgettable to doctors, waitresses, strangers, and anyone blessed by his uplifting presence. His values of hard work, integrity and kindness have been instilled in every generation to follow him.
His family includes his wife, Jeanne (Morel) Roy; daughter Susan Tardiff and husband Stephen of Berlin, NH; son Donald Roy and his partner Angie Murphy of LIttle Deer Isle, ME; daughter Diane Pare and husband Ivan of Saylorsburg, PA; daughter Denise Hebert and her late husband Luc of Milan, NH; 8 grandchildren (Pasquales): Jonathan Tardiff, Jessica Harrison, Desiray and Scott Roy, George Pare, Crystal Trowbridge, Marissa Barendt, Craig Hebert; 9 great-grandchildren; Lilly Lamper, Aidan, Ashlyn, Bryce, and Maura Trowbridge, Aubrey and Leah Berendt, Ella Hebert; brothers Lucien, Gerard, and Maurice Roy. Victor is predeceased by brother Roger, son-in-law Luc, and great grandson Samuel Luc Hebert.
His love was fierce and unconditional and while not always spoken, was and will be eternally felt and will continue to be a guiding force to those lucky enough to have known him. He leaves behind him a family who adored him, a lifetime of stories and memories that will be told for generations, and a love so strong that not even death can diminish. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the lessons he taught, the laughter he inspired, and the love that he so freely gave.
We all remember his greatest and most consistent advice: to never take any wooden nickels.
