Yvette C. Hachez

January 22, 1925 — February 28, 2025

Berlin, NH

Yvette Hachez, 100, of Berlin, N.H., passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Friday, February 28, 2025. She was born in Berlin on January 22, 1925, the daughter of the late Mildred Gosselin Turcotte and Treffle Turcotte. She attended St. Joseph Parochial School and graduated Berlin High in 1942. It was during a local dance that she met her future husband and the love of her life, Henry Hachez. Upon graduating, she was employed at Brown Paper Company in the financial department and was known as the "Bond Girl"; selling war bonds during World War II. Henry was drafted in the army and was sent to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. Upon returning from overseas, they were married. Henry was then stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where Yvette passed her Civil Service test and was then employed at the Fort Hood Station Hospital.

In 1945, they returned home to the North Country and raised their four children; Susan, Randy, Garry and Robert. Yvette eventually went back to work at the Androscoggin Hospital for 19 years, where she was the friendly face to all who were admitted. In 1983, Yvette retired and she and her husband began their adventure of traveling worldwide to Europe, Canada, Mexico, and all 50 states - at least three times - including Alaska and Hawaii. Yvette and Henry enjoyed their retirement, traveling with friends or just themselves, by RV three times a year for 10 months or on the seven cruises they took. They did a lot of camping, traveling, and hiking throughout the years. Yvette and Henry were also members of the Paper Town Pacers Square Dancing Club, where she and Henry spent many weekends with friends.

Yvette was a devout Catholic and a member of the Good Shepherd Church. She found time to volunteer at AVH Auxiliary for over 20 years. Yvette served on the board at the Good Shepherd Church as well as the Holiday Senior Center. Yvette enjoyed going to play cards, having lunch and socializing at the center. She volunteered her time working to find a new venue for her and her peers and organized many tournaments. She was presented with Volunteer of the Year Award at both the Holiday Center and the AVH Auxiliary. Playing cribbage was a good part of her life, and towards her last years, she played in tournaments as well as hosting friends at her home. Even well into her nineties, Yvette was active in her community, attended church, walking at the track at Berlin High School, and was always there to assist friends and neighbors in need.

Most of all, Yvette was the most loving and supportive mother, sister, cousin, grandmother and great-grandmother. Yvette's devotion, love, and life lessons for her family will be her life-long legacy. Yvette is survived by her brother, Paul Turcotte, her daughter Susan Olivier and her partner Rick Farrell, her son Randy Hachez and his wife Laura, and her son Garry Hachez; her granddaughters Deborah Olivier, Sandra Gardner and her husband Michael, Erin Messier and her husband Mike, Jessica Hachez and her husband Spencer Shannon, and Jamie Nickerson; her grandsons Jarrod, Clayton, and Kendall Hachez; and several nieces and nephews. Her great-grandchildren include Olivia and Alex Gardner, Lilliana, Bryson, and Amaya Messier, Zak Harpin and his wife Candace, and her great-great granddaughter Brianna, who live in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Yvette was preceded in death by her husband Henry Hachez, her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Shirley Turcotte, her sister Nancy Turcotte, and by her son Robert Hachez.
