Born in West Stewartstown, Ed resided in Colebrook before moving to Berlin in 1966 with his family. A graduate of Berlin High School class of 1979, Ed spent some time in other fields before entering funeral service. A graduate of New England Institute in Boston, Class of 1984, he joined his father, Bert in the business in 1981. Ed and Laurie were married in 1991 and raised two children David and Brianna.
When not working, Ed enjoys hunting, snowmobiling, and working with his antique Farmall tractors. He is a member of the Evening Star Lodge #37 F&AM of Colebrook, Bektash Shrine, New Hampshire Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, and is a past member of the Berlin Kiwanis Club for more than 30 years and the Executive Board of the NH Funeral Directors Assoc.
A lifelong resident of Berlin, New Hampshire, David graduated from Berlin High School in 2011. In 2012, he joined his parents in the family business and went on to attend FINE Mortuary College, where he earned his degree in 2016. David currently resides in Berlin with his wife, Hannah, and their dog, Maxx.
In September 2021, David achieved the prestigious designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. The CFSP designation is the highest professional recognition in the funeral service profession, signifying a commitment to excellence, continued education, and professional development. David is one of fewer than a dozen funeral directors in New Hampshire to hold this designation—and the only one north of the Lakes Region.
Additionally, David is recognized by the National Funeral Directors Association as a Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC), a mark of excellence for professionals assisting families in funeral planning. As a Certified Funeral Celebrant, having completed training through the Insight Institute, he is also qualified to officiate funeral and memorial services.
David is actively involved in several professional and community organizations. He is a member of Gorham Sabatis Lodge #73 F&AM, Bektash Shrine, the National Funeral Directors Association, the 100 Club of NH, and the Androscoggin Valley Hospital Auxiliary. He also serves on the board of the Berlin & Coös County Historical Society and as Vice President of the New Hampshire Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association.
Previously, David dedicated time to emergency services as an Emergency Medical Technician with Gorham Fire & EMS and Berlin EMS, Inc. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Androscoggin Valley Fish & Game Association and was a founding member of New Hampshire Operation Game Thief, the state’s anti-poaching program.
David is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both New Hampshire and Maine.
Justin joined our team in early 2025. A native of Alton, NH, Justin brings valuable experience from both family-owned and corporate funeral homes, allowing him to serve families with professionalism and compassion.
He is a graduate of Prospect Mountain High School and is currently completing his Associate Degree in Funeral Service at FINE Mortuary College in Norwood, MA. Justin anticipates receiving his Funeral Director’s license later this year.
Justin and his wife, Naomi, relocated to Berlin with their dog, Maple, where they’ve purchased their first home.
Born in Berlin and a graduate of Berlin High School class of 1979. Laurie graduated from Concord Hospital School of Nursing in Concord, NH Class of 1982. Laurie spent time working in Farmington, ME, and Bangor, ME hospitals, before returning to Berlin to work at Androscoggin Valley Hospital, AVH Home Health & Hospice Services, and Coos County Family Health Services. As the funeral home continued to grow, Laurie left nursing to work full-time as the firm’s secretary and bookkeeper and now oversees the firm's crematory operations.
When not working, Laurie enjoys spending time quilting, knitting, and embroidering. She is a member of the Berlin Material Girls Quilters Guild, serves on the board of directors of Androscoggin Valley Home Care, and is a communicator of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
A Berlin native, Hannah graduated from Berlin High School in 2012. She is a 2016 graduate of White Mountains Community College, and a Magne Cum Laude graduate of Keene State College, Class of 2019.
Hannah first joined our team in 2018 and has since filled many roles. She has assisted at funerals, provided transportation and administrative support, and is a Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) through Matthews International. Hannah came to us full-time in the winter of 2022 and works in our main office, largely in a secretarial capacity.
Outside of work, Hannah enjoys skiing, cooking, and several athletic pursuits. She previously served as an EMT in both Berlin and Gorham and has worked at several local businesses over the years.
Hannah resides in Berlin with her husband David and their dog Maxx.
Gary grew up in Berlin and is currently a resident of Dummer. A graduate of Berlin High School Class of 2011. Gary has years of experience in retail and customer service. He assists us with a variety of tasks including transportation, maintenance, and assisting with funerals. Most recently he has obtained his Crematory Operator certification and now assists with the cremation of those entrusted to our care.
Bill has been a member of our team for over 25 years. A United States Navy veteran, Bill served on the Berlin Fire Dept. for over 20 years, retiring in December 2016 with the rank of Captain. Bill serves as an instructor for the State of NH Division of Fire Standards and Training at their Concord and Bethlehem facilities. Bill has won national awards for his cooking skills and has appeared several times on national television. Bill enjoys hunting, four-wheeling, cooking, and running his catering business Smoke Showin’ BBQ with his wife Kim.
Lefty retired from the Berlin Police Dept and currently works part-time for the Coos County Sheriff’s Department. Lefty enjoys hiking the white mountains, hunting, and riding his motorcycle.
Dan resides in Berlin with his wife Darlene. For many years, he worked as part of his family business, Blais Wholesale. In later years he had been employed by Androscoggin Valley Hospital in a variety of positions before his retirement. Dan assists us on transfers, funerals and long distance transports.
Ray joined our team in 2022. He resides in Milan, NH with his children and is a member of the Berlin Fire Department where he currently serves with the rank of Captain. Ray assists us with funeral services and with transportation.
Barney serves the citizens and visitors of Berlin as a Lieutenant for the Berlin Police Dept. He resides in Gorham with his wife Sue. When not working Barney enjoys spending time riding his motorcycle, skiing, camping, and traveling the world.
Paul retired from the Berlin Fire Department and the NH Department of Corrections - Northern Correctional Facility. He has assisted us with transfers, funerals, and in other capacities for over 30 years.
"Kate" grew up in Coos County and graudated from FINE Mortuary College. She worked for several years in Lancaster, NH before moving to Gorham where she has resided for several years.
Maxx was adopted by David at about 3 ½ months old from the Conway Area Humane Society. He has obtained his AKC Canine Good Citizen designation and is a Certified Therapy Dog with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Maxx is in our office most days to greet those who come in. He also spends time visiting hours when available to greet people coming into the funeral home.
When not working, David and Maxx regularly volunteer time at Androscoggin Valley Hospital, visiting patients and staff. The pair has also assisted local first responders during Critical Incident Stress Debriefing meetings in the area, and remain committed to assisting in this role. They also have spoken at Androscoggin Valley Hospital and other local events about the work that therapy dogs do. If you are interested in having David and Maxx come speak at your event, email David.
While Maxx is a Certified Therapy Dog, he is still a dog and is known to be quite a ham!
Bob was an active part of the Bryant team for over a decade. A United States Air Force veteran, he was born and raised in Berlin where he resides with his wife Louise. Bob worked in the cable and communications field.
Bob is a communicator of Good Shepherd Parish where he serves in various positions, a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), Berlin Kiwanis Club, and has served many other boards and organizations throughout the years.
Bob has taken a step back from assisting us due to his health but remains a part of our team in spirit.
Bertrand E. Bryant passed away in June 2020 at the age of 89 after a period of failing health. Bert's career in funeral service spanned six decades and he instilled a very high standard of service in his family and our team. His legacy continues through his son Ed and grandson David, who continue to serve Northern New Hampshire's communities with the highest standards of care.
Tim passed away in June 2020 at the age of 64 after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. A kinder man and better friend are impossible to find. He served as a valuable member of our team for several years after his retirement. He is sorely missed.
